The privacy-focused browser DuckDuckGo has released a new feature called “Sync & Backup” that enables users to secretly sync and access passwords, favorites, and bookmarks on several devices.
While bookmarks and passwords from other browsers could already be imported into DuckDuckGo, now you could secretly sync them across various devices’ DuckDuckGo browsers.
To utilize the function, you don’t have to register or log in, and the business guarantees that DuckDuckGo never sees users’ bookmarks or passwords in keeping with its privacy-first pledge.
According to DuckDuckGo, most Windows, Mac, Android, and iPhone devices can utilize this capability. With the release of this new capability, users may now transfer data, including passwords and bookmarks, from their Mac’s DuckDuckGo browser to their iPhone and vice versa.
Thanks to this new functionality, users who choose DuckDuckGo over other browsers because of its privacy-first policy and non-sharing approach can continue use the same browser across different devices by keeping their data synchronized.
Additionally, although using a third-party password manager was an option before to the release of this functionality, the latest version eliminates that requirement.
Steps:
- You must go to the browser’s Settings, choose “Sync & Backup,” click “Sync With Another Device,” and then adhere to the directions under “Begin Syncing” in order to begin using Sync & Backup.
- Using a QR code, you can connect devices whether you’re on a phone or tablet. On a desktop computer, an alphanumeric code must be entered.
- From the “Single-Device Setup” section, select “Sync and Back Up This Device” if you’re only using one device.
- Once you’re done, you may get a complete list of all your synced devices and modify the device nicknames.
- As soon all the setup is complete, store the Recovery PDF in a safe location.
- Your Recovery Code, a special code that will enable you to access your synced data in the event that your devices are lost or damaged, is contained in this document.According to DuckDuckGo, accessing your data from a new phone or computer requires your Recovery Code.
