Poseidon Ocean Systems, a business situated in Vancouver Island, British Columbia, that offers solutions to the aquaculture sector, has secured US$20.75 million in Series B funding.
Ecosystem Integrity Fund (“EIF”) led the round, and InBC Investment Corp. and Export Development Canada provided significant investment support.
The company plans to utilize the money to keep growing into international markets, strengthening ties with farmers in the UK, Chile, and Canada, and venturing into new areas.
Poseidon provides solutions for the aquaculture business under the direction of CEO Jamie Gaskill. Its goal is to increase fish welfare while lessening the environmental damage caused by the production of wholesome, sustainable protein to feed the world’s population.
With the use of their technology, farmers may increase fish welfare, achieve improved survival and growth, and decrease, if not completely eliminate, mortality events.
This will increase the production from each fish while decreasing the aquaculture industry’s carbon footprint.
Big salmon growers are among the clients.
