A 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO and a 1947 Delahaye 135MS Narval Cariolet won Best in Show at the 29th Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. A week of auctions, seminars, film screenings, and automotive events ended with the Sunday Concours. Over 27,000 car aficionados attended The Amelia February 29–March 3.
“Enthusiasts had many options this weekend, yet a record 27,000 returned to The Amelia,” stated McKeel Hagerty, CEO and Chairman of The Amelia. Any successful automotive event starts with a love for cars and people. Fans voted with their most valuable asset—their time—and we were honored to host them. We had two global vehicle premieres, multiple auction records, filled show fields on Saturday and Sunday, and most importantly, fantastic automotive people celebrating amazing vehicles.”
David MacNeil’s 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO won the 1964 Tour de France and finished 4th overall and 2nd in class at the 1963 24 Hours of Le Mans. The automobile was fully restored to its 1963 Le Mans specification.
We agonized over this car. Owner David MacNeil stated Motion Products’ repair was excellent and shows. “We’ll retain this car for decades and be good custodians,” Roderick MacNeil said.
Six “Narval” cabriolets were constructed, including the 1947 Delahaye 135MS Narval Cariolet, named for its narwhal-like nose. This automobile debuted at the 1947 Paris Auto Salon. Famous musician and songwriter Charles Trenet owned it. He brought the car to the US for a performance tour in 1948 and has had only three owners since. Coachwork designer Joseph Figoni’s favored Orange Brule hue is returned.
“This car was the 1947 Paris Show car and today marks its return to a Concours,” stated owner Dana Mecum. “It’s hard to prepare for a Concours like Amelia, but this is worth it.”

Broad Arrow Auctions
Broad Arrow Auctions, The Amelia’s official auction house, held its second annual auction on Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2. Lydia Fenet, principal auctioneer, sold the lot after a well-attended preview on February 29–March 1. Over 90% of the auction sold, including a $4,405,000 1967 Ford GT40 Mk I Road Coupe.
“This weekend reaffirmed that Amelia Island is the greatest site to have an auction in March,” said Broad Arrow Auctions President Ken Ahn. We’re happy to have doubled sales and a high sell through rate of over 90%. Bidding was enthusiastic both days as the standing-room-only crowd was. The Broad Arrow team is functioning flawlessly in our second Amelia auction. In 2025, Broad Arrow Auctions will provide another spectacular lineup of cars to mark The Amelia’s 30th anniversary. We’ve started planning.”
