An AI-powered legal technology startup, BenchIQ in Canada has raised $2.1 million in investment.
Lead investors in the round included Maple and Haystack, with participation from Qasar Younis, Cooley, Fenwick, Wilson Sonsini, Andrew Arruda (CEO, Flexpa), Zain Manji, Arif Bhanji, Nivrith Sekhar, Ronald Gosio, and partners at Kirkland & Ellis, Inovia Capital, Soma Capital, Roach Capital, Alumni Ventures, and Boon Fund.
The money will be used by the company to grow both its operations and its clientele.
Bench IQ was founded by CEO Jimoh Ovbiagele, CTO Maxim Isakov, and Jeffrey Gettleman. It provides AI-enhanced legal research tools that let attorneys analyze court decisions to improve their legal arguments and tactics.
The organization has created and is using a new legal dataset by utilizing the most recent developments in Large Language Models (LLMs). This dataset, which covers all of the judges’ decisions, offers in-depth insights into their decision-making processes.
