Use of funds
The money will be used by the business to increase the scope of its DAC project development activities.
Its direct air capture facility uses extremely low carbon energy, mostly from hydropower on the local grid, to optimize the environmental advantages. The low-temperature desorption method at 280 Earth may further reduce energy use by harnessing waste heat from adjacent third-party industrial activities. The majority of the equipment at the factory is being constructed mostly using union personnel and is sourced from American sources.
About 280 Earth
280 Earth was established in 2022 with the goal of expanding and commercializing cutting-edge direct air capture technology created by Google X’s X, The Moonshot Factory. The commercial demonstration facility’s first phase is intended to extract water and up to 500 tons of CO2 annually from ambient air. The associated water may be used for cooling or other purposes, and the acquired CO2 will be liquified, stored off-site, or used in other industrial systems. In order to verify plans for scaling up its technology as it advances to a 5,000 tonne per year module, the plant is heavily instrumented.
