A tentative deal to renew the two collective agreements was announced today by representatives of TVA Group and CUPE 687, the union representing unionized workers in Montréal, Québec City, and the local stations.
Following negotiations that started in December 2023 and proceeded with support from a conciliator the Minister of Labor had appointed, the agreements were reached. The parties reached a consensus at the negotiating table over the terms of the new collective agreements as well as the mitigating actions for the workers impacted by the November 2, 2023, announcement.
In the context of the agreed agreements, which will allow them to face the industry’s key problems while preserving outstanding employment conditions and guaranteeing high-caliber journalism coverage across Québec, all parties are happy.
The Union and TVA Group will refrain from commenting more until the agreements have been put to a vote at the general assemblies of the two union units, out of respect for the decision-making process.
