Luxury skincare and cosmetics company Clé de Peau Beauté is pleased to announce Reshma Saujani as the 2024 Power of Radiance Awards winner, located in New York, U.S. The Power of Radiance Awards honor community leaders who promote girls’ education, particularly STEM fields.Reshma Saujani founded females Who Code, an international non-profit organization that empowers females in computer science.
Girls Who Code has produced the most female and non-binary computer scientists worldwide since 2012. A decade later, the non-profit had served over 500,000 students via its unique programs, with graduates seven times more likely to achieve computer science and related degrees than the national average in US.
Clé de Peau Beauté thinks that STEM education may improve the world by unleashing girls’ potential. This notion inspired the biennial Power of Radiance Awards. This conviction drives the brand’s multi-year cooperation with UNICEF to combat gender inequality via STEM education, employment, and empowerment initiatives for girls. STEM professions are essential to solving global problems. Empowering half the world’s girls and women in these sectors would assure a bright, inclusive future of creativity and growth without gender boundaries.
Girls Who Code and Reshma Saujani aim to close the gender gap in entry-level computing professions by 2030. A lofty aim given that this disparity has grown 13% in 30 years. During her candidacy for US Congress, lawyer, politician, and civil servant Reshma Saujani visited local schools and witnessed computer science courses full of guys and few female. As Moms First’s founder and CEO, she continues to strive for a societal change to close the gender gap.
Reshma Saujani will receive a grant from the Power of Radiance Awards 2024 to further her cause. Reshma Saujani will lead the 20 Under 20 campaign with Clé de Peau Beaute. The program aims to inspire females to pursue higher education and professions in computer science, since the largest drop off occurs in middle and high school. The campaign offers 20 US females under 20 exceptional experiences, including as access to Clé de Peau Beauté’s sophisticated research facilities, scientists, mentorships, and funding for STEM pursuits.
“Girls Who Code is about showing girls the beauty of STEM and connecting them with role models as they plan their careers,” Reshma Saujani said. You can’t be what you can’t see. Only 28% of computer positions are occupied by women. It’s crucial to support women and girls in STEM fields, and Clé de Peau Beauté’s Power of Radiance Awards are promoting a societal change towards gender equality..”
