A visual effects (VFX) firm located in Los Angeles, California called Beyond-FX was purchased by Virtuos, a video game production company based in Singapore.
The deal’s total value was not made public.
Through the acquisition, Virtuos is advancing its goals to become the world’s top external game developer and solidifying its position as a leading global provider of services.
Beyond-FX is a real-time visual effects studio that was founded in 2015 by Keith Guerrette and specializes in AAA game visual effects.
Its services span all phases of VFX production, from design to execution and optimization, as a full-service co-development team.
The 39-person team’s contributions to more than 100 projects include, among the most recent, God of War, Rocket League, 2XKO, Mortal Kombat 1, Valorant, The Callisto Protocol, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Legends of Runeterra, and What Remains of Edith Finch.
Across 22 locations in Asia, Europe, and North America, Virtuos is an independent video game development firm that was founded in 2004 and employs approximately 3,700 people.
With a focus on complete game development and art creation, the company produces content for over 1,500 console, PC, and mobile games. 23 of the top 25 gaming firms in the world are among their clientele.
