The Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Middle East turmoil, and the threat of Chinese aggression are fueling demand for weapons systems manufactured by American defense companies.
Lockheed announced that it was on track to quadruple production of its High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS). HIMARS production capacity has already expanded from 48 to 60 per year, and it is on target to reach 96 per year capacity by the end of 2024.
The production of Javelin, a shoulder-fired and platform-employed antitank missile system, has climbed to 2,400 per year. It anticipates increasing Javelin production capacity to 3,960 Javelins per year by late 2026.
It will supply over 10,000 Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (GMLRS) this year, with plans to raise production capacity to 14,000 per year by 2025.
Additionally, Lockheed stated that it had advanced money to expand annual manufacturing rates of air defense missile PAC-3 MSE to 650 by 2027.
