Particle, an AI news reader firm based in San Francisco, California, has raised $4.4 million in initial money.
Adverb Ventures, Kindred Ventures, and Ev Williams were among the backers.
The money will be used by the business to carry out further operations and development initiatives.
Particle is a firm founded by Sara Beykpour and Marcel Molina that focuses on developing an AI-based news reader with the goal of providing users with personalized news flows. Private beta testing for the service is still ongoing.
Sara Beykpour, a former Senior Director of Product Management at Twitter who oversaw the development of the experimental app twttr and worked on features like Twitter Blue, Twitter Video, and discussions, established the firm last year.
Particle hasn’t disclosed its business plan yet, but it launches at a moment when worries about how AI will affect a news environment that is fast contracting are intensifying.
AI-summarized news may diminish clicks to publishers’ websites, which would also decrease their capacity to make money from advertising.
