Fluent Metal is creating production-grade liquid metal printing to make metal additive manufacturing accessible and offer unrivaled scalability and process tunability.
Today, E15, Pillar VC, and industry angels invested $3.2M in venture capital to propel the firm out of stealth with $5.5M in total funding.
Fluent Metal’s drop-on-demand method works with most metals, including refractories, and creates parts in one step, reducing unpredictability.
It uses less starting material and produces no waste, making it more sustainable than powder-based metal 3D printers.
Fluent Metal is creating production-grade liquid metal printing for more useful, sustainable, and affordable metal products.
By providing affordable and dependable metal 3D printing technology, Fluent Metal aims to transform metal additive manufacturing and inspire industry innovation.
“Drop-on-demand technology creates complex metal components elegantly,” CEO Peter Schmitt stated. Fluent Metal gives customers operational and material flexibility for prototypes and part production. Industry-wide creativity and problem-solving will increase with this freedom.”
Current metal additive manufacturing technology accepts the large industrial overhead needed to function securely. Fluent Metal is developing an inkjet printer-like lean overhead process to make it more sustainable, efficient, and functional.
Fluent Metal’s drop-on-demand method:
Functional: Fluent Metal allows genuine multi-metal printing using wire and no waste. Even expensive metals can be elaborately mixed to create new qualities. Due to the inkjet-like printhead and parallel throughput, complex structures like totally enclosed voids and internal channels are achievable.
Operationally efficient: Fluent Metal’s solution works safely on a production floor or prototyping facility without clean rooms or other safety procedures. Material switching is plug-and-play, minimizing setup time and increasing machine uptime.
Sustainable: It leaves no waste and requires less energy than powder-based methods.
“As the manufacturing industry evolves in response to the changing needs of global supply chains and sustainability demands, we need novel approaches to drive creativity and expand our collective conception about what’s possible,” stated Philip Liang, CEO of E15. “Fluent Metal will inspire designers, engineers, and technologists to examine how quick, on-demand custom metal part manufacture could revolutionize their capabilities. This method will transform industrial manufacturing at scale.”
