Upwards (formerly Weecare), a nationwide childcare network and benefits provider headquartered in Los Angeles, California, has secured $21 million in Series B funding.
Led by Alpha Edison, this has made the total funds raised by the company to $43.3M, including participation from current investors M13 and Fika Ventures.
The company plans to utilize the money to quicken its growth and enhance the client experience for caregivers, families, and both new and current government and employer partners.
While billions in public and private funds flow towards childcare annually, hundreds of millions of families still struggle to find quality, affordable care and participate in the workforce, highlighting clear gaps in the system. The growing demand from employers and governments shows that Upwards’ ecosystem-based model and tailored care solutions are making a true difference.”
Jessica Chang, CEO
Upwards is a technology-driven care solutions firm led by CEO Jessica Chang. Its goal is to empower the caregivers who provide care and make care accessible to all families.
In addition to using a data-driven strategy to improve the supply and capacity of the care system, it brings together families, employers, care providers, and governments to jointly develop new care avenues in real-time.
Upwards connects families with resources—whether through government subsidies or employment benefits—that enable them to purchase care, as well as carers who are qualified to meet their needs.
